Lovers of the sport know exactly what gliding is: it means flying without the aid of an engine, supported by the wind, lots and lots of adrenaline, and passion. The two disciplines of gliding are hang gliding and paragliding.

Our region is renowned among enthusiasts from all over the world, particularly the section between the Monte Grappa massif and Monte Avena, which is right behind us, Romano d’Ezzelino, Borso del Grappa, Crespano, and Feltre. This is because the weather conditions and mountainous terrain of the area make it an exceptional, one-of-a-kind location for these extreme sports.

The massif area lends itself perfectly to the sport because it is protected from the winds coming from the north. Another aspect greatly appreciated by enthusiasts is that the area is full of updrafts, which are necessary to remain aloft for longer and thus travel further.

Did you know that, on several occasions, gliding enthusiasts have taken off from Mount Grappa with their winged craft and reached as far as Slovenia? Not exactly close by! Incredible, isn’t it? These conditions make the Monte Grappa area a perfect training ground for those getting to grips with the sport, and schools from all over Europe come here to practice. And thanks to these conditions, it is possible to fly here 300 days a year on average.
